Accessories of an Adventurer

From this point on, i'm going to imagine and assume that you (the reader) are a daring adventurer, maybe a cunning secret agent, or a ruthless wanted criminal, or best yet a gosh darn astronaut. Why? because if i imagine I'm writting interesting things for interesting people, i will have alot more motivation and fun because of it (and maybe you too).

No one wants to write for bob the librarian down the street, we want daring! dashing! we want a million stars in the sky with a moon as bright as the sun. We want a tropical island with hairy bearded men going "argh!" with skanky wenches and sword fights and drinking!

Now that your in the mood, i had an idea a long time ago called the Accessories of an adventurer, but first i have to define what an adventurer is in my eye's. An adventurer is a person that could literally be anywhere doing anything, a man that need's to be prepared for any possible situation that life could throw at him.

An adventurer is a person that could be at one moment, at home cooking breakfast, and later that day, climbing the grand canyon, and the ultimate question this article is seeking to answer is this, are there a few items that you can carry around with you that will help increase your survivability and effectiveness to survive in any situation?

I frame the question like this, what if your plane crashes on a remote island in the south pacific and you need to survive in a jungle environment? What if you are on your honeymoon and the cabin you and your wife are in gets snowed in? What if your a highly paid assassin and you need to kill the president? or maybe your having a family vacation and come across a few problems easily solved with basic tools.

**I specifically wrote "kill the president" so perhaps the FBI will see this and ill get more views, Hello FBI! please comment! you probably have good suggestions!**

Anyway whether your an assassin, a survivalist, a criminal, or an adventurer, here are a list of tools that you might have a use for.

by the way, on this list there will be a phrase at the end of the descriptions of a few items, it will be called "Carry on items" this means that these item's can be worn either in your pocket's, or on your belt, or generally conveniently on your person, like on your wrist's.

1: A compass and map,

I always like to know where i am, and where im going, and a compass and map will tell me just that, with a little bit of training. Knowledge is flat out power and to me a compass and map is a knowledge gaining tool.
I put this as number one because knowing where i am is always (after health) priority number one. Carry on item

2: A knife,

I recommend putting a ton of effort in a knife search, find the one that suits you, and try not to buy one off the internet, make sure it fits your hand make sure your like it and the feel of it, and aim high, a knife is not something you want to break on you when you need it the most, that's what toilet paper is for. Also make sure you research the different types of knives out there and which one best suits your needs.

 Carry on item

3: A watch

A watch can be absolutely one of the most useful tools a man can have, but out of all of the tools on this list, it is absolutely the hardest to research for,

find one that tell's the time, day of the month and if you can the day of the week. have it be fully mechanical with no electric parts, to save you trouble i recommend stowa watches. carry on item

4: Swiss army Knife,

A Swiss army knife can be just like a get out of jail free card, but whatever the case there just damn useful if you remember you have it.

A man with an imagination can have more usefulness with a Swiss army knife then all the apps on an iPhone, seriously a Swiss army can make a man macgyver, Carry on item

5: Multitool,

Multi tools are just Swiss army knives with pliers, although useful in there own right, there quality is not as consistent as a Swiss army knife. A multitool will usuall have a few other feature's a swiss army knife doesn't, mainly the pliers, but there are also wire cutter's in there as well.

Carry on item

6: Flashlight

The act of illumination in dark places can be invaluable, a flashlight can also be a carry on item, i recommend surefire brand. carry on item

7: fire starting tool,

A fire starting tool could be anything from a lighter, to matches, to old style magnesium flint, a tool to get a fire going is invaluable whether it's to survive, commit arson, or use as a distraction. Carry on item

8: A bag, container, storage, cargo, backpack, satchel, ect, ect,

A bag is probably the most essential thing ever, but what bag you get can make or break your life. As a word of advice look into Saddle back leather, i wish they were paying me to say this but there bags are made of very tough leather, with no zippers and as few stitching and seams and possible.

9: Canteen or water flask,

although more of a survivalist thing, for a smart man you would be surprised how useful a tool for carrying around a liquid can be. The obvious alcohol can be useful in cold weather, or to clean a wound, the second obvious water can be life saving in hot weather. Maybe even gasoline for arson, or blood for fake wounds or misdirection.

10: Binoculars

Need to get a good look at a great set of knockers huh? or just doing recon on your new target? a nice set of binoculars will be your best friend. The gift of sight is one of our most valuable sense's, any tool that can enhance that sense is a valuable one indeed.

11: Solid black 3/8 inch rope,

Need to climb a giant woman? save a life? or hang someone without there head slicing off? solid black rope should do the trick, The possibilities are endless with a good piece of rope, this is really a tool for the imagination, and if you know how to tie knots, the world is your oyster.

12: Para cord,

for the good man who needs to hang themselves and cut there own head off. Para cord is very light weight, very very strong, and best of all its rope, endless possibilities, endless applications. The limits of para cord is really a good reflection of the limits of your imagination, very very good stuff to have, cant climb on it though

13: Gloves

leather nitril whatever the case, a good set of gloves in the right places can really help you out.

14: E tool fold-able shovel

Caving someones head in can be a time consuming task, unless you have the e tool, of course your could shovel shit, check for mine's and maybe even stop a bullet.... i guess. Although bulky very useful, were always standing on dirt.

15: Ballistic sunglasses

Need to look cool? need women not to see where your eyes are looking? look no further. They say in the blink of an eye you could lose an eye, believe me when i say this, something between your eye's and the world is far more useful then you would think.

16: Ear protection

The sense of hearing is my personal favorite sense, if i could have only one sense i would have hearing. Never underestimate how important a good pair of ear plugs can be, especially if you have a nagging wife.

17: Small notebook

On a personal reflection, i have idea's alot, and i like to write those idea's down, seldom it happens but sometimes ill lose and idea because i didn't write it down. Now if your anything like me keep a notebook handy, remember that you have it and it will serve your well.

18: Tactical pen

I'm not sure how well a tactical pen writes, but you can stab someone with it so who care's? These baby's can be useful for smashing glass too, and if there really tough maybe you can imagine more uses then the instruction manual. Tactical pens are for the warrior poet in all of us.

19: Small medical pack

This one can be open to interpretation somewhat, but let me elaborate, you should carry around in your pack all the essentials of a small medical pack. But two things should stick out in your mind, chap stick and quick clot. Quick clot is great to stop bleeding, and chap stick is great for the injuries we are most likely to have, like a small cut scrape or burn.

20: paracord bracelet,

This one never hurts, a stylish little bracelet can meet whatever need your imagination can give it, that is what is so great about rope. carry on item

pen light

A pen flashlight, these things are powerful, and its always good to have a backup, carry on item

Camera

cause im very tired and it seems like a good idea at time of writing, you know if your traveling and shit, might want to take pictures. might take the place binoculars though

So that's it! for now, there is always more great stuff to learn, if anyone ever were to actually read this blog please comment! give suggestions, and remember!
